Risks and side effects
Every single medical operation includes also risks. Here are some risks and side effects about laser eye surgery / refracrive error surgery (Lasik, PRK, Smile,Lasek and so on).
Following side effects will have everyone who will have laser eye surgery. For someone those will disappeard but someone's those will have the lifetime. The reason of many symptoms is becauce the eye's cornea will be reshapened and it is like a window of the eye. You know, every scratch in window mean lower optic features. The laser made scrathes on the cornea will never heal back as original eye is.
- Halo effect. Bigger pupil means bigger risk for that side effect. Halos are around the lights or for example a traffic signs. All rainbow colours can be seen around the lights
- Starburst effect. The lights looks very shiny and bigger. From the lights can grow like sticks.
- Dry eyes. The first weeks after operation shows will you have dry eyes. The truht is that the nerve nett will be cut and eyes can feel dry, but officially you feel ghost pain because the nerves are cut from the eye. Those nerves will never grow back. More information from that link.
- Weakened ability to see in dark. Usually the ability comes back in 3 or 6 months. For someone never.
These risks are rare but possible.
- Eye infection. Immediately after operation a doctor gives antibiotic drops to weaken risk for that. If you have bad luck the infection can cause blindness.
- Glare effect. Especially if the flap is bad. More scratches in cornea causes glares and rainbow glares to sight.
- Depression and other problems with mental health. All bug operations can causes mental problems. Also the eye surgery. This is well known risk especially with operation complications.
- Haze in sight.
- Colour contrast sight can be changed.
- These operation has done just 25 years. We don't know yeat which problems will have in the future.
