How to get back an old eyesight - Stroma of Cornea Tissue Regeneration After Refractive Error Laser Surgery

How many people in the world wide are unhappy after lasik, lasek, PRK or Smile surgery? I guess nowadays we are talking about millions of people.  Many doctors say that the laser operation is the best way to correct refractive errors. For some patients it could be, but not for everyone. For those patients whose are not satisfied after operation, it means jail with new eye sight. Why we have no public conversation about that thema? The laser surgery can causes for example depression and weaker quality of life, cause of complications.

Can we have still chance to get old eyesight back with an old refractive error? Definytely we have, but it would need to open new line of research. At the moment world wide there are many trials to regenerate new stromal tissue, the same tissue which has reshaped by eximer laser. The target of those researches is to help blind people. Another large group would be unhappy people after refractive surgery. Why there are not research line for help them? Reason: We are not enough loud group!

What problems the science is already solved?

- Epithelium regeneration by limbal stem cells (first layer of the cornea) for example Holoclar threathment

- Stromal (lasered part of the eye) tissue regeneration in test animals (some different treathments)

- At the moment there are clinical trials to regenerate stromal tissue in human eye

Finally the research is very close of breakthrough. If all those treathments could be used for large numbers of humans, the problems after laser eye surgery are solved. It means to have the old natural eyesight back. All treathments are based by stem cells. It means that fixing uses patients' own cells which are grown in lab and later transplanted onto eye. Those treathments help also to fix other laser eye surgery complication, for example dry eyes and flap complications.
